According to Success Coaches Jim Bunch and Thomas Leonard, there are 9 environments which determine your health, wealth and happiness. They refer to these as the 9 environments of you. Understanding these environments has the potential to bring life altering transformation to all areas of your life, so lets go through each one briefly so you can understand them and how they impact your results and your life.

  1. Memetics

This environment is your belief systems, paradigms, conditioning and how you view the world. Your beliefs underpin every thought pattern and outcome you will ever experience in your life.

Your subconscious mind, which determines your results, makes decisions and drives your actions according to the belief systems installed, mostly when you were very young. If you keep believing what you’ve always believed, and doing what you’ve always done, you’re going to keep getting the exact same results you’ve always gotten.

Those raised in a mostly negative environment will achieve a lot of negative results in their life.

The good news is, when you change your belief systems, you immediately change your results. The really good news is we now have a wide variety of powerful transformation tools and techniques, like Emotional Freedom Technique, Peace Process, Instant Miracle Technique, Sound Healing and many more that can release negative belief systems and turn your results around very quickly.

  1. Physical

Your physical environment is comprised of the tangible things you can see, smell, touch and taste. This includes your office, your home, your possessions, etc. This is one of the easiest environments for you to change.

For example, if you have a cluttered office, your mind will tend to be cluttered and your results unpredictable and haphazard. If you’re office is clean and tidy, you’ll be able to think more clearly.

I suggest surrounding yourself with things in your office that give you joy and make you feel at peace. Does your office have any natural lighting, or is it purely lit by fluorescent lights? What kind of flooring does it have? Are there any distracting noises from nearby sources? Are you surrounded by computer screens and technology emitting EMF’s? All of these will have a direct impact on you physically, mentally and emotionally and it’s important you make changes where you can to assist you to change your life to one you want. Declutter, update, chuck out old stuff you don’t use, keep it simple, clean and inviting.

Your physical environments are a direct reflection of what’s going on in your life, so play close attention to them because they will impact your results dramatically.

  1. Financial

Your financial environment includes the technology, systems and strategies you have in place to maximise your financial results. Do you have professional financial advisers helping you with investment strategies that get the best return on your income and set you up for the future? If you have a business, do you have a bookkeeper and accountant looking after your tax returns and advising you on how to increase your business turn over and reduce costs in your business? Do you have credit cards maxed out, or bad loans hanging over your head? If you do, do you have a plan in place to pay them out as quickly as possible? Do you have a plan to create a passive income in the years ahead so you can retire comfortably and still have a lifestyle and not have to rely on the government for support?

There’s a lot to consider with your financial environment, and once you have the systems and plans in place so you’re feeling more secure, stable and under control, you can relax and put your attention on how you can increase your income going forward and really boost your financial wealth in the years to come.

  1. Network

There’s a popular statement that your net worth is equal to your network. This simply means that the people you hang out with will directly impact how much income you earn and the financial results you achieve. The vast majority of people’s income will be an average of all the people they socialise and hang out with.

If you’re hanging out with naysayers and dream stealers, your chances of success are seriously limited. Being immersed in an environment with people who are possibility thinkers, know that every challenge has a solution, and who believe in you is very liberating and uplifting, and will greatly increase your chances of success.

It would be worth your while cultivating a network which includes wealthy, successful people, and start spending a lot more time with them.

Make sure you surround yourself with people who are uplifting and will support your endeavours and fuel your ideas. People able to see and share your vision, and who will challenge you to overcome your perceived limitations. People who will lift you up when you’re down, will call you on your BS, and celebrate your successes with you.

Seek these people out and spend as much time with them as you possibly can. They will help guide you to places and achievements you never imagined possible.

  1. Relationships

This can be one of the most difficult environments to change because it is made up of your nearest and dearest. Are your relationships loving, supportive, intimate, safe, inspiring? Do they pull you up? Or are they pulling you down? Are they helping you to be the best you can be and step into a bigger you?

If your relationships are detracting from your life then it’s time to take a serious look at them and take action to change them. Now this doesn’t mean you need to change the other person. Remember, as within, so without. You need to change yourself to change the quality of your relationships.

If your family are bringing you down, try spending less time in their presence and choose not to share your inner most secrets, dreams and aspirations with them in case they say things to bring down your level of confidence.

If your significant other doesn’t understand you and is not supportive of you, work quietly on your goals and dreams and be the quiet achiever.

By working on your self esteem and self confidence, self love and your relationship with yourself, you’ll find the nature of your other significant relationships will start to change. Never seek to change someone else, always seek to change yourself and see how your external relationship changes.

If you feel you need help with your significant relationships, perhaps getting a counsellor to help you navigate them would be a good idea.

  1. Body

This environment is largely self-explanatory, but I’m going to break it down in case there are parts of your body environment you’re not paying enough attention to, and could do with improvement.

To analyse your body environment you need to look at several key factors such as

  • What foods are you putting into your body?
  • What exercise are you doing each day?
  • How much sugar are you eating?
  • How many stimulants, such as caffeine, are you consuming?
  • How much water do you drink?
  • What kind of health practitioners are you seeing?
  • How much sleep are you getting?
  • How much stress are you under?
  • What kind of toxins and pollutants are you exposed to?
  • How much alcohol you are consuming?
  • Do you smoke cigarettes?
  • What thoughts do you have about your body?
  • Do you feel tired, stressed and overwhelmed much of the time?
  • Do you treat pain by taking pain killers, or are you actively looking to find the cause of the pain and treating it?
  • Do you use and abuse your body, or treat it with the love and respect it deserves?

The truth is, if you don’t put time, effort and energy into being well now, you’d better make time for being sick in the future, because it’s inevitable. Our society is getting sicker and sicker, and while many will trot out the line that it’s because we’re living longer, this is only a small contributing factor to the global health crisis we’re currently experiencing.

How you look after your body not only affects your physical health now and into the future, it affects your ability to focus and concentrate, your energy levels, you’re ability to solve problems, your clarity for making sound decisions.

It also directly impacts your self image and self worth. If you truly want to be successful, you must look after your body and make its health one of your top priorities.

  1. Self

Your self environment is not as tangible as the other environments. This is about your mission, purpose, talents and gifts. This environment, however, gives your life meaning and will be the single biggest contributing factor to the level of fulfilment and satisfaction you experience in this lifetime.

Those who know their purpose and mission in life tend to be happier, more focused, more resolute in the actions they take toward living out their visions and achieving their goals than those who don’t.

How do you know when you’re on purpose?

Do you feel like you’re living from a place of inspiration and loving the work you do on a daily basis? Do you feel as if you’re making a worthy contribution to society? Are your relationships supportive of what you’re setting out to achieve? Do you notice the Universe conspiring to support you in your quest to achieve your vision? Do you feel a sense of flow and ease around what you’re doing? Do you feel as if you’re being the best you can be and doing what sets your heart on fire?

When you answer yes to all these questions, you will know you’re living your life on purpose. If you’re confused and don’t know what that is, then set about studying yourself. Make YOU the subject of discovery until you’ve figured this piece out. Keep asking the question, ‘What’s my purpose? What am I here for?’ and stay intensely curious.

Once you’ve nailed the self environment, make sure you adjust the rest of the environments to be supportive of this one. Your life will be more magical, rewarding and fulfilling than you ever imagined possible!

  1. Spiritual

With almost 7 billion people on the planet, there are almost 7 individual sets of spiritual belief systems. Even within organised religion, each and every person has their own interpretation of various aspects of the faith within those religions. Even if you’re an atheist, and you believe in ‘nothing’, that is still a belief system.

Your spiritual beliefs must resonate with your soul and allow you to connect with your own internal compass as to what higher power you identify with.

Ask yourself, do your spiritual beliefs help you feel more connected, alive, empowered, like you matter, as if you’re a significant part of the whole? Are there rituals or practices you perform, or could perform, that would deepen this spiritual connection? Are there books you can read that will help you to deepen your understanding of your faith and your place in the world in relation to that faith? Do your other environments have elements that reflect your spiritual beliefs? Are your spiritual beliefs giving you the return on investment you desire and deserve?

Exploring your spiritual beliefs, and adopting the ones which resonate with your soul, is a truly satisfying experience. It gives you a sense of connection we all crave in order to feel whole and complete. There is nothing missing within you, and whatever you believe will help you to experience that.

  1. Nature

The nature environment is extremely important for the health of our mind, body and spirit. It has the capacity to nurture us, rejuvenate us, support us and sustain us. Living in a concrete jungle and failing to connect with nature can cause or add to feelings of discontent, unhappiness, emptiness and a sense that something’s missing.

Connecting to nature will help to reinvigorate and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit. It will bring you back to you.

These are the nine environments you must attend to in order to stack the odds in your favour so you’re able to be all you can be, and achieve all your goals and dreams. I encourage you to take the time to explore and understand each of these environments, how they relate to you, and then to go about optimising each of them and nurture and maintain them over time. Do not underestimate the importance of this exercise. You have been given everything you need to be the best you can be. It’s up to you to make good use of those resources and set yourself up to express your greatness in the world.
